Dear Reader,
I love fall and pumpkin spice and everything nice. I know, I know. Some people hate pumpkin, but each to his own.
If you don’t like the flavor of pumpkin, perhaps you like the color. That’s what I like most about this season. Those fall colors just lift my spirits and remind me of the goodness of God.
For my fall newsletter I’d like to give away two beautiful fall-colored books: one about prayers and one about Pumpkin Day!
I was recently honored to serve on the launch team for Tama Fortner’s new book Prayers for Each Moment. This book with its lovely burnt orange edge and a cover graced with fall leaves has spoken to me in many ways over the past month.

From her heart Tama describes her book:
“In these pages, you’ll find a collection of prayers. They aren’t fancy or formal. They’re echoes of my own conversations with God. Raw and honest and real. They often begin with questions and confusion, then end in trust as I talk things through with Him.”
Yes! These prayers are “raw and honest and real,” and I think you will find that they speak to you as they have spoken to me. I am honored to give away a copy of this book to one of my newsletter subscribers.
Laura Sassi’s new children’s book Pumpkin Day for Boo and Belle is especially appropriate for fall because of its cute critters surrounded by orange-colored everything.

This charming book, filled with pumpkins and acorns and leaves and cornstalks, is not only a reminder of the beauty of fall, but also a reminder of the importance of friendship and forgiveness.
Belle took a breath. “I’m sorry, Boo!
I should have double-checked with you.”
Boo swished his tail. “I could have too.
I’m sorry that I doubted you.”
This book’s theme focuses on forgetting disappointments and being thankful for unexpected joys. It would be a great way to help children celebrate the months of fall.
I am excited to also give away a copy of this sweet book to a second newsletter subscriber.
To be eligible to win a copy of Prayers for Each Moment or Pumpkin Day for Boo and Belle, you must be a newsletter subscriber. Please mention which book is your preference in the comments. To subscribe, go to https://joycemccullough.com/newsletter/.
I will be choosing the two winners of this giveaway on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
In other news, my children’s book Look for the Pink Ribbons will be celebrating its first birthday soon. If you haven’t read it, I’d love for you to check it out. If you have read it, I hope you will leave a review on Amazon. https://a.co/d/hL0TGlm
My new children’s book Max and Her Stacks is set to release this fall, but I don’t have a specific date yet. I will be sure to let you know as soon as I know. You can probably hear me shouting about it!
Happy fall, y’all!

Note: I am not a major sports fan (sorry), but I am proud to be from Tennessee. I think that means I’m supposed to like orange for reasons other than the beautiful fall color. Go Big Orange!
Blessings,
The Literary Lyonesse
I would like Prayers for Each Moment. Glad this letter was written as it reminds me that you are still out there working to make lives better. Stay strong and remember YOU are a powerful influencer…you may not realize it but you have influenced my life and the lives of others in your Sunday School class and WOW activities. Blessings to you.
Thank you, Pete!
Can I heart emoji this post!?
This is lovely, Joyce! Proud to be a member of your high school class!
Please consider me for Prayers for Eachpat Moment.
I will do it! Thank you!
So excited for your new book! I love fall as well and if another team that was our competitor was the color orange – I’d still sport it around my home! Go VOLS!
While I would love either of the books you’re giving away, something about reading Pumpkin Day to my 3 month old grandson would make me happy. It’s my choice for the giveaway.
